    NEED HELP?

FAQ - The Answers to Your Questions

Is there a cost for rides?

There is no set fare; rides are donation-based. A suggested donation is about 30 cents per mile one way, if feasible, and larger donations are welcome. Donation envelopes are available from volunteer drivers.

    Who is eligible?

Seniors age 60+ and adults 18–59 with a verifiable disability that prevents driving are eligible if they live within the Berthoud Fire Protection District. Town residents may qualify for medical trips only; when unsure, contact BATS first for in-town needs.

    Are vehicles wheelchair accessible?

Most rides are provided by volunteers using personal vehicles; an ADA PARA Van is available for eligible riders who rely on wheelchairs. Mention mobility needs when registering or scheduling so the right vehicle can be arranged.

What if I need to travel outside the service area?

RAFT serves rural Berthoud residents within the Berthoud Fire Protection District and provides trips to Berthoud, Loveland, Longmont, and adjacent areas for approved purposes. For destinations or needs beyond these, discuss options with schedulers; in-town residents are currently supported for medical trips to Loveland or Longmont.

    How do I request/cancel a ride?

Verify eligibility, then call 970-532-0808 Monday–Friday during scheduler hours to register and schedule. Request rides at least 3 business days in advance; same-day or next-day requests can’t be accommodated. To cancel, notify schedulers as early as possible to avoid no-shows or late cancellations that may affect service.

    How do I provide feedback?

Concerns or compliments can be reported to the scheduler or Program Coordinator; formal grievances must be submitted in writing to the RAFT Program Coordinator at the Berthoud Area Community Center. Issues are addressed within five working days, with escalation paths through the Larimer County Office on Aging and the Colorado Department of Human Services for seniors.
